Please note that as a result of the COVID-19 outbreak and the government’s recommendation of social distancing, we are providing flexible solutions that will allow final exams to be written from the comfort and safety of the student’s home.
All courses have mandatory final summatives. For many of our courses, this final summative takes the form of an exam. To maintain academic integrity, all final exams must be written in-person under the supervision of an approved proctor. In keeping with our self-paced model, the date and time of the final exam are decided upon by the student, but writing must be approved by the our instructors. There are two options for the supervision of your final exam:
Option #1: Writing With A Proctor
A student-selected proctor can be any professional adult who is not related to the student (e.g. day school teacher, guidance counselor, coach, librarian, doctor, lawyer, accountant, small business owner, etc.) who has a dedicated professional email address (i.e. firstname.lastname@example.org). This individual must agree to supervise the student for the duration of the exam, in accordance with our procedures, as outlined by the instructor. The exam may be written at a time, place, and location that is most comfortable for the student. Students will need to provide their instructor with their proposed proctor’s professional email address and contact number at least 3-5 days in advance of the scheduled exam date.
Once your proctor has been approved, your instructor will email the exam to their approved email, along with detailed instructions and a sign-off form. The approved proctor and student may then proceed with the final exam as scheduled. Once the exam has been written, the proctor must send it back to the teacher as a scanned, clearly legible document.
Please note that if a student selects a proctor who charges a fee for their services, the student is responsible for covering any costs incurred.
Option #2: Writing At The Our Office
Students also have the option to write their final exam at the our office, if it is convenient for them to do so. In this case, one of our administrative staff will serve as pre-approved proctor. To schedule an in-office exam, simply email email@example.com or call the office at least 2-3 business days in advance of the scheduled exam date. In-office exams may be scheduled Monday through Friday, with start times ranging from 10am to 6pm.
